Joel Karsten is a graduate from the University of Minnesota and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture Science. He worked in the "Green" industry after graduation, running his own landscape design and Installation company in the Minneapolis/St.Paul metro area. He is still an avid vegetable gardener, trying new varieties of anything he can fit into his 20 bale garden on his limited residential lot in Roseville. He is also a fan of tulips, dhalias, roses, hostas and day lillies, and is always on the lookout for new introductions.
Changing careers is something many people do several times in a lifetime; Joel made a change in the 90s and began a small manufacturing and distribution company. Teaching Community Education became an interest of Joel's when eBay recruited him several years ago to begin teaching interested eBay "newbies" how to sell effectively on eBay. After many years of using eBay as a tool to sell his company's products and to find new wholesale customers for his products, Joel's company was one of the most successful eBay sellers in the region. Having had a great deal of experience and expertise in eCommerce, Karsten created a class that helps new sellers avoid pitfalls and take advantage of his many tricks and tips as they start their own businesses selling on eBay. He now travels the Midwest teaching "The Basics of Selling on eBay", and "Advanced eBay Instruction", and he also does independent business consulting. He is one of only a small handfull of Certified eBay Education Specialists recognized world-wide with this level of expertise and is currently the top certified specialist in eBay's system.
